It makes more sense for me to "blog" than try to find a paper journal somewhere in this house and then write in it with my baby-holding-cramped hand and then lose it again and feel guilty when I locate it next year, only to have written in the first few pages.
Why "blog" at all?
Because I need something to do with my evenings when the baby finally goes to sleep and my husband would like to read in peace without me talking to him every five minutes about my experiences as a new mom. Plus, I need to do something with my degree in writing -- I need something to tell people when they continue to ask what I've written lately.
"I have a blog about being a new mom."
That's so much better than, "I wrote some creative feedback about an eBay seller who sent me a big box of smoky-smelling baby clothes."
[Who in the WORLD is smoking around their baby so much that the baby's clothes are fully permeated with the odor, even after washing?]
So I am happy to inaugurate my new blog, for the sanity of my husband, and so that I may jot down some of the great and bizarre things that have happened since Babycakes came into our lives.
