Babycakes has gotten a LOT more rowdy in the last few weeks -- she transforms into "DESTRUCTOR" in various situations, hurling to the floor anything she can get her mitts on, or shoving things into her mouth with impressive ferocity.
Today at dinner, she was in full DESTRUCTOR mode. We took her to an Indian restaurant with cloth tablecloths and far less bustling activity than her favorite pizzeria, so it was a full-impact aerobic sport keeping her entertained, fed and happy throughout the meal. Happily, I managed to drink a few glasses of wine which took the nervous edge off of my mothering and allowed me to not stress out about the half-gummed potatoes which she pressed so deeply into the fibers of the tablecloth.
Hub-D ordered vegetable samosas, which she stared at as he ate. So he reached into the crispy crust of the samosa, pulled out a hunk of potatoes and peas, mushed it with his fingers and plopped it right in her mouth. Spicy. Not pureed. Certainly not a single-ingredient food.
She went NUTS. First, she reared back in oral shock, a marvelously hilarious act which adds great joy to feeding an infant a new food. She clamped her lips and squinted her eyes and acted like we had put a live cockroach in her mouth. Then she swallowed, sat momentarily stunned, then threw herself at the samosa again, pounding on the table with her chubby fist, pulling on the tablecloth in order to reduce the distance between her and the samosa.
So, whatever, we ordered her a whole samosa of her own, and damn if she didn't eat the whole thing, save the crust. I gave her a whole piece of rice too, after she licked clean an Earth's Best "Sweet Potatoes and Chicken" dinner.

[Incidentally, US Weekly recently featured a picture of Denise Richards feeding her daughter Lola a jar of the PRECISE same baby food. Little Lola Sheen was lapping it up. Just so you know that Babycakes is eating only the best, most celebrity-baby-endorsed food available.]
She then demonstrated a severe interest in the bottle of wine and I protectively (of the wine, not the baby, let's be clear...) pushed it away.
So, simply put, Babycakes is eating massive amounts, apparently has a taste for the spicy foods of the Asian continent, and her sweet little body has been possessed by an increasingly familiar entity... DESTRUCTOR!
