No really

Now that I'm not as insane from sleep deprivation, I'm noticing all of the things that have been crumbling around me, namely my face.

Last night I was taking off my make-up, and I discovered that that little smidgen of mascara and the shiny pink lipstick, plus the mineral powder, was holding my face together. And when I took it off, I made the mistake of looking up into the mirror and seeing the full horror of who I'd become.

My cheeks are sunken, my eyes are dark and crazy looking, and I look like a wrinkly old mess. I KNOW I'm beautiful ordinarily, but I sure am not right now. My first thought was, YES, I look like Glenn Close in Dangerous Liaisons.

It's just that bad.

I'm sure it's not true! Must be you have enough rest to get yourself to the mirror, but not enough to see clearly! Must be a haze in your eyes... :)

Don't worry -- in mere weeks you'll be back to looking like Uma Thurman in Dangerous Liaisons. Have faith!

I am not a huge makeup person, but ever since having a baby, I don't go outside without it. Because once I did, and I caught a glimpse of myself in a department store mirror, and my first thought was, "Wow, that old fat woman looks exhausted." Hellooo, Bare Minerals and Weight Watchers.

Old haggard ladies, unite!

You guys are kind to say I'm still pretty, but let's just say I feel a lot prettier when I'm not up replacing pacifiers at 1am (like right at this moment).

Dude, I think your EYES are tired, you do NOT look like that. Do you look as well rested as, say, if you didn't have an infant? Um, no. But nobody does. You want to see some pix of me at that stage? It's a right of pasage. But don't be harshing on my friend SM!

p.s. I can make myself look really ugly on any given day, it's a talent I have always had. So, be it 18 years old all glammed up or 33 and exhausted and naturally funky looking, I can pull off a really good Ugly. I am proud of it. And I clean up good, too, so I am proud of my Shiny Pretty moments. It's all good, m'lady.
